Another Liberal Rag Stretches the Truth

    Friday, June 30th, 2006

    It’s an epidemic.
Lawmakers on House and Senate intelligence committees say that while the National Security Agency has amassed a huge database of Americans’ calling records, cooperation with the NSA by telephone companies was not as widespread as USA Today initially reported, the newspaper said Friday.
USA Today reported May 11 that, according to its sources, AT&T, [...]

    Berkeley to Vote on Impeachment

    Thursday, June 29th, 2006

    What a bunch of losers.
The left-leaning city of Berkeley will let voters decide whether to call for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. The move is symbolic because only Congress has impeachment powers.
Even when President Clinton was actually being impeached by Congress, conservative cities around the country weren’t “symbolically” voting [...]

Here’s One Way to Fight Terrorism

    Thursday, June 29th, 2006

    Two, actually.
Israel arrests known terrorist leaders in Palestinian Parliament.
Israeli forces rounded up dozens of Palestinian Cabinet ministers and lawmakers from Hamas, increasing pressure on the Islamic militants to release a captured Israeli soldier, and witnesses said tanks moved into northern Gaza, widening Israel’s largest military operation in the year since Israel pulled out of the [...]

    Democrats and Evangelicals: Whoa

    Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Barack Obama is wooing the evangelicals. On one point, I support him:

“Not every mention of God in public is a breach to the wall of separation. Context matters,” the Illinois Democrat said in remarks to a conference of Call to Renewal, a faith-based movement to overcome poverty.
“It is doubtful that children reciting the Pledge [...]

Democrats Want It Both Ways On Immigration, Minimum Wage

    Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

Today the Democrats are announcing their support for an election year push for a minimum wage increase.
“Congress is going to have earn its raise by putting American workers first: A raise for workers before a raise for Congress,” said Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada.
Aren’t these the same Democrats who want to open [...]

    Flag Amendment Fails

    Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

It was a stupid idea, anyway. I think burning the US flag is stupid and despicable and a slap in the face to all those who served and died to make this country what it is today, but amending the Constitution to criminalize something that has always been protected by the First Amendment goes too [...]

    Bravo, Canada! Bring in Mortazavi

    Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

Finally, people are starting to get tougher on Iran. The US and Canada should form an anti-Iran North American alliance.

An Iranian prosecutor who is accused of condoning the torture, rape, and murder of a Canadian photojournalist will have to plan his trips to Europe and the Americas carefully after it was disclosed that the Canadian [...]

Zero Steps Forward, 2 Steps Back at the UN

    Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

Why would we give this up, no matter the opposition?

America is retreating from an attempt to use its sizable monetary contributions to insist on genuine reform at the United Nations. While what Turtle Bay for 60 years has called “reform” has proved elusive, the financing from America and the other main funding nations will [...]

    World Cup Diving

    Sunday, June 25th, 2006

A GREAT parody of the diving that is so endemic in the World Cup. To you, my Italian, Spanish, and Argentinian friends! Ole!
UPDATE: It looks like I improperly posted this before. It should work, now.

    World Cup

    Friday, June 23rd, 2006

I’ve been blogging about the World Cup - day-by-day - but the US performance was so pitiful that I’ve lost the desire to currently blog on the subject. When the second round is set, I’ll start again, as I get “excited” about some underdog (Australia? Ghana?). We’ll see.

Ozzie Guillen Calls Jay Mariotti "Fag"

    Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

Not the most kosher of moves, Ozzie. I’ll be the first to admit that.

Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen recently used a homosexual slur to describe a Chicago Sun-Times columnist.

The newspaper published a column Wednesday, and it ripped the outspoken skipper for his angry outburst directed at Jay Mariotti, who was covering Game 6 [...]

Al Gore’s Documentary to Win Special Award

    Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

I love this. Al Gore’s documentary about global warming is winning a prize … The prize is to help honor screen-writing that helps “liberate, enrich, and unify society.” Pfft. Right. The best part, however, is the end of the article.
Since 1974, the Humanitas Prize has presented awards and grants to TV and film writers whose [...]
